Paneer Bhape or Paneer Bhapa is a very easy and flavorful Bengali veg dish which goes best with steamed rice. Bhapa means steamed. In this Paneer Bhapa recipe, paneer will be steamed in mustard, poppy seeds within a steel box. The taste and texture of Paneer is out of the world. Try this very easy recipe in your kitchen and let me know how it turned out for you.

INGREDIENTS

Paneer – 250gm
Poppy seeds – 2TbSP
Black mustard seed – 1TbSP
Yellow mustard seed – 1TbSP
Cashew – 8 pieces
Turmeric powder – ½ TSP
Green chili – 3 pieces
Salt
Mustard oil

STEPS OF PREPARATION

In a mixer jar take 2TbSP Poppy seeds, 1TbSP Black mustard seed, 1TbSP Yellow mustard seed, 3 pieces Green chili, grind it for 30 seconds.

After 30 seconds , add water and ½ TSP salt, grind to a smooth paste.

Add ½ TSP turmeric powder and ½ TSP salt in the paneer cubes and coat it well.

In a pan heat 1 TSP mustard oil,fry the paneer cubes for 2 to 3 minutes.

In a tiffin box take the mixer paste, add ½ TSP turmeric powder, ½ cup water, 1TSP salt, and mix well.

Add the fried paneer cubes and give it a generous mix.

Add 3 to 4 green chilis for flavor and close the lid tightly.

Place a small stand in the bottom of a kadahi,add ½ cup water.

Place the tiffin box carefully on the stand, cover the kadahi with lid, boil for 20 minutes on medium flame.(Check in between,if water dries off,add some more)

After 20 minutes switch off the flame and let paneer rest for 10 minutes with lid on.

Serve hot with rice or roti.
